MY RESPECT AND LOVE FOR MY DAD, CHEDDI B. JAGAN, JR.
BY
VRINDA JAGAN
It’s kind of strange trying to find the appropriate words to express one of the most important persons in my
life. I’m not sure that words can correctly articulate as to what extent of importance, my father, Cheddi B.
Jagan Jr., has had on my life. Everything I have and everything that I am is owed to my father and all
that he has tried to teach me. I consider him to be an idol in every way probable, and I look up to him only
dreaming of becoming all that he is(the female version of course).
I have always considered our immediate family to be exceptionally close unlike most around me, and I credit
this immensely to my mother and father as a team of superheroes, they work together and aim at teaching us
what is right and how to be better people.
Obviously no family is perfect, and we have undoubtedly had our
battles, but the underlying fact remaining strong throughout all our arguments and struggles, has been and
will continue to be our unconditional love for one another as a family, and as a team.
I consider my father and I to have a relationship some only dream of sharing with their fathers, and I am
forever grateful to him for loving me as much as he does. I have never met a man, or woman, I am inclined
to include my mother when describing love and our family, who loves their children as much as my parents
love theirs. I won’t even try to convey as to how much I love my father, and mother for there are certainly
no words to describe it.
Everything that makes up my entire character can be credited towards my parents,
without them my whole being would cease to exist, I surely would not laugh as much as I do, or have a love
for movies, reading, or candy, without my dad and mom, my family would simply not be. They make us as well
as each other laugh, smile, work together, think independently, speak our minds, and love one another.
It
is the two of them, who insist upon and drill into us that family is an important factor governing our lives,
and because of them I can proudly say that my best friend is my little sister, Avasa, and the person I look
up to most, after my parents, is my older brother, Cheddi, who is also one of my closest friends. My father
along with my mother has made us a strong family that can get through any and everything, because of the love
we share for each other; they are the glue that holds us together, and the air that allows us to survive.
I support my dad in everything he wishes to accomplish in his life, without a shadow of a doubt. I believe
in him because I know that he is a good man wanting the best for his family and those around him. I respect
my father because he has everything anyone, and myself, would desire to be and obtain in their lifetime; a
brilliant mind, a strong career, writing ability out of this world, a devotion to his children, and a strong
personality beyond comparison.
I admire my father to inconceivable degrees, and I hope I have accurately
portrayed as to the type of man he is, a man who deserves help and support in all the good he wishes
to achieve for Guyana and others in the world.
